FA to ask FIFA for Ivan Tony’s eight-month ban which will result in him not being able to move abroad to play

According to FIFA’s standard procedure, the request must be reviewed first. But there have been examples earlier that they allowed a ban from England to have global implications.

The FA are reportedly set to get FIFA to apply Ivan Toney’s eight-month ban from football worldwide, leaving the Brentford striker unable to play abroad.
Kieran Trippier received a 10-week ban while at Atletico Madrid for a similar sanction by the FA.
So Tony is unlikely to have the opportunity to play or train with a club abroad during his time at Brentford. Once on 16 January next year, but he can train with Brentford from September onwards.
The ban was for Tony’s gambling between 2017 and 2021, when he played against Scunthorpe, Wigan, Peterborough and Brentford.
